The Palm Beach County Commission in a 51 vote on Tuesday,  April 19, 2016, approved new rules that they will keep Uber operating in Palm Beach County. Henry Handler, Esq. from the firm Weiss, Handler & Cornwell, P.A., who represented Uber in the approval
process stated, “We are very pleased with the cooperation exhibited by both County staff and Commissioners in creating an ordinance that permits Uber to continue to engage many thousands of drivers and passengers in Palm Beach County.”

The idea for the company came from a night in 2008 in Paris when difficulty arose when trying to hail a cab. Uber is now currently in 409 cities worldwide.  A large benefit of keeping Uber in Palm Beach County is related to public safety. One group that is utilizing Uber are individuals who have consumed alcohol while at dinner or enjoying a night out on the town.  By utilizing Uber, individuals are opting not to get behind the wheel.
