Ken Pruitt is Senior Advisor of Governmental Affairs and Public Policy for Weiss, Handler, Angelos & Cornwell P.A. Ken represents clients before public
agencies at the local, state and federal level. His representation includes, but not limited to; utilities, communications, environmental, education, social
services, health care, agriculture, energy, bio-tech, land use, special districts, affordable housing, finance & tax and regulatory matters.
Ken served as President of the Florida Senate from 2006 to 2008. He was appointed as chairman of the Florida House of Representatives Appropriations
Committee from 1998-2000 and the Florida Senate Appropriations Committee from 2002-2004. These leadership responsibilities, along with almost two
decades of public service in the Florida House and Florida Senate, have provided him a comprehensive understanding of the state’s budget process and
have given him a vast array of experience in public policy. Pruitt’s rise through the legislative ranks has allowed him to work on important issues affecting
businesses, non-profits, federal, state and local governments; it has also given him the experience to effectively navigate difficult policy and regulatory
obstacles.
Ken’s legislative accomplishments include; the Bert Harris Property Rights Act, the Florida Administrative Procedures Act, the Lake Okeechobee Protection
Plan and the Bright Futures Scholarship Act. Among the myriad of state and local associations that have honored Ken Pruitt are the Florida Chamber, the
Florida Association of Counties, BIO Florida, Coastal Conservation Association, the Florida League of Cities, Florida School Board Association, and the
Florida Bar.
Ken is licensed to practice real estate and his prior public service includes Vice Chairman of the St. Lucie County Planning & Zoning Board.
Ken was elected Property Appraiser of St. Lucie County on November 2, 2010.
